Institute Deputy Director Craig Willingham, with colleagues from the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (NYCDOHMH) has recently published an article in the Journal of Nutrition Education and Behavior on the results of a study to understand the impact of healthy checkouts in supermarkets located in the Bronx. Healthy checkouts, a component of the Shop Healthy NYC program, are retail checkout aisle that have been restocked with healthier offerings. According to the authors, “when healthier products were available, the proportion of healthy purchases increased.”
